End-to-end encryption in SPECS and WITDOM

Since 2013, the SPECS projectSecure Provisioning of Cloud Services based on SLA Management (EC FP7-ICT) has been developing security mechanisms for enforcing and monitoring security features agreed in SLAs – more than 15.000 lines of code altogether is now available from their official website.

The SPECS software solutions are aimed to offer more security to cloud service providers and users and range from secure storage services with client-side encryption to secure web containers for running his/her own applications.

The cryptographic techniques developed within SPECS are being considered for integration within another ongoing security and privacy oriented research project @XLAB ResearchWITDOM (empoWering prIvacy and securiTy in non-trusteD envirOnMents; Horizon 2020) for ensuring verifiability of outsourced process for eHealth and financial sector, where sensitivity of the involved data makes privacy a must:

bullet the financial scenario: protection of personal data that needs to be processed in transit – at rest and during execution
bullet the eHealth scenario: for laboratories dealing with clinical analyses and outsourced processing of genetic data.
